Bike wanted BA / Argentina or Santiago / Chile

Hi there,

I am looking for a bike in Buenos Aires / Argentina or Santiago / Chile in the middle of November 2013.
I want to make a tour through South America for around 4 month.

Is there something available ?

Hi Rebel Rider,

I have all the details in my website on the specifics regarding buying a bike in Argentina:

www.Xfiltrate.com - Professional Motorcycle Parking

The bad news, though, is that as a foreign tourist, you are not allowed to leave the country with the bike.

Cpaulson, I am from Europe / Romania. As far as I know, we can do the papers, but I have to dig more. Until then, please sent me more details (kilometers, optionals, pictures) about your KLR. I will send by PM my email.

2012 klr for sale

As far as I know it is illegal for me to sell my bike to a Chilean as for the tax reasons. But I am allowed as a tourist to sell the bike to another tourist as long as the bike is not staying here in Chile. I have also found out during my research that there are actually two "territories" in Chile where I can in fact sell the bike. One is up north, and the other down south near Ushuaia. But either way I don't think I can sell you the bike here in Santiago. The closest thing we could do from here is go to the boarder, I cross out of Chile with the bike, then you cross into Argentina with the bike and the proper paperwork we would make beforehand and then you're off. They are just real quick to notice at the aduanas if a vehicle comes into a country registered in one persons name, it must leave that country by the same person. So that is why we would have to do a boarder transaction if we did it here. However, depending on your plans for a ride, I am actually leaning towards riding down to Ushuaia here in the next couple week anyway as that was always my original plan when I started this trip last year. Riding from Alaska all the way to the bottom of South America. And besides I have heard form everyone that the ride through Patagonia is not only the most beautiful part of the trip, but for the next month and a half or so the weather is the best. Would you be willing to fly to Ushuaia and start your trip from there heading back north? I know the transfering of the bike is easier and I think you should also consider the ride through Patagonia.

The bike was purchased brand new last year specifically for this trip. I wanted to assure myself I would have little or no problems while traveling such great distance. It is a 2012 klr 650. I purchased the bike from a dealer in California and had it put on a barge and shipped to Alaska. I then drove it from the barge to the garage, approx 8 miles where the bike spent the next three weeks undergoing a huge makeover. I spent approx $4,500 on extra equipment making the bike tour ready. over all I have approx $10,500 - 11,000 invested in this bike. It has everything from crash bars, highway pegs, tank bags, steel crash plate undercarrige, tool tube, removable side panners, aftermarket seat for the long days, road rally dash, taller touring windshiled, bark buster hand gurads (for protection and weather) gps mount on dash, phone mount on dash, race tech upgraded suspension was done in Ecuador, and much more I can't remember right now. I did however bring all the reciepts of all acsessories with me from the states to give to whomever buys the bike. The bike currently has 15,347 miles on the odometer. However, if I sell the bike in Ushuaia there will be approx 17,000 miles on it. I just purchased brand new tires about 300 miles ago so even in Ushuaia you would have plenty of tread left to get started on whatever adventure youre looking for. I am asking $5,000 for the bike and I also have riding gear available if interested. Helmet has bluetooth capability and built in speakers making it great for the gps and listening to music.

I will post some pictures as soon as I get back to my refuge this eveing as I am currently getting ready to go work on a rock wall for the next few hours. Cheers

I don't believe I ever received you pm. I think I've decided to head south and finish the trip through Patagonia like originally planned when I began this trip. I've also found punta aires is a duty free zone making it legal for me to sell my bike to tourist or locals alike. So I'm going to head that way and enjoy southern chile. Let me know if you are still interested in the bike as once I arrive there my objective will be to sell the bike as quickly as possible so as to make it back home for the holidays.
