hmmmm
Hi, your dates coincide spookily with my departure date from BA (beginning dec 06), after a leisurely pootle down from LA. My bike is an almost new '04 kawasaki klr 650, which i bought here in LA (chosen because there are reportedly so many jap garages in SA..) and is in spotless nick. it has a comfy corbin seat and will also have various adventure trail mods done by the time i leave in a few weeks.
**catch is i'm not yet sure if i want to sell the bike in BA or ship it back to london, whilst i fly on to cook islands and new zealand to see family. hence title of my post. but just at first glance, would you be interested? alex

Definitely
Hi Alex,
I am definitely still interested in buying a bike out there if you can bare to part with it? I am also open to renting it off you and then helping pay for shipping it back to the UK if the terms were agreeable. Cheers, Annette

XT 600 for sale in Colombia
Dear mate
Here is the deal. The bike has australian license plates. I rode it smoothly for 35.000km, it has 80.000 by now. I am the second owner and I bought it from a german mechanic and rider who took great care of her. She has an acerbis 24 ltr petrol tank (almost 500 km on a full tank), aluminum wheels, highway forward footpegs with front tool box, headlight acrylic protection cover, gearsack saddlebags with rack, home made chain oiler, progressive fork springs, washable foam air filter (Uni-filter). The price is 3700 usd, negotiable. Prices for this bike are considerably higher in south america. I will get it fully serviced and tuned up beforehand, put new tyres on, change piston rings (its drinking a bit of oil), service brakes, adjust valve clearances, tune up carbies, etc. Mind you the bike needs to cross the border before the 25th of october, when the temporary admission permit runs out. Its a strong reliable bike, great suspension, light and meneuverable, up for big trips. You could do the big south america loop (32000 km) before heading north, wont regret it Let me know if you have any questions, Cheers, Juan

Hi Annette
Good to see you are moving on with your trip!
Remember that buying selling in Argentina is a pain in the.........!!!! If you decide to do it contact the owner and cross the border with him outside from Argentina. Then enter the country again and look that the "importacion temporaria"(for 8 month) is on your name!!!!!! That way you can move in and out more comfortable. Try to do some "new" UK ownership document.Registration etc. Good luck and CU at http://www.dakarmotos.com/ in BA Chauuuu KH

Arriving in December
Hi Juan,
I am not arriving in BA until 1st Dec and my flight is already booked and paid for so I would rather not change it to Colombia plus as much as I would like to leave now I really need to work until the end of November. But thank you very much for replying. Happy trails. Best regards, Annette

Thanks for the information
Hi KH,
Yep, getting closer. As the weather is starting to turn colder in the UK, I think that the trip won't come soon enough. On the other hand when I think about the number of things I have to sort out here before I go three months doesn't seem long enough. Still it is anniversery today of sorts as in exactly three months I will be in BA. Thanks for the information about how to buy a foreign bike over there. The good news is that my bike is finally running well. catch you later, Annette

Columbia
Hi Juan,
Thanks for your message. I have a mate in Canada who just went back to Columbia for a visit to his family and has emailed me his pictures. It looks amazing and I am looking forward to going there. Thanks also for sending the link as it is reassuring. See you there, Annette
