2013 Honda XR-250 Tornado For Sale in Columbia, in June

Hello all Potential Travellers of South/Central America,

This Honda XR 250 Tornado (Little Red) was brought brand new in Chile from a dealership (and is Chile plated). The bike is still covered under its year long warranty until December 2014, which extends to second owners, throughout ALL of Latin America, covering everything mechanical.

Little Red is a nice little 250 enduro that has been regularly serviced at Honda Dealers according to the manufacturers details. Proof of service is available. Right now she has 19,000km and I expect to sell her with ~22,000km. Little Red is running perfect and I have not had a single issue with this bike, as you would expect from a brand new Honda. She is a travel bike and therefore has a few minor scuffs.

All of the documentation is in order and under my name (as I bought the bike new from a dealership in Santiago, Chile).

Included in the sale are all the necessities: tire irons, hand tire pump, spare front tube, rear front tube, coil lock, and all the necessary tools for minor maintenance and tire changes. Additionally, willing to sell my BMW Rallye 3 jacket, BMW Rallye 3 pants, and Black NAU modular helmet for an additional cost.

I am in Quito, Ecuador heading north and due to school and money I need to return to Canada. I am willing to sell her anywhere along my route north to Cartagena. Message or post me with any questions or to work out any details.

I originally purchased Little Red from the dealership for $5600. She is only half a year old and still under warranty so I was hoping to sell her for around $3500, make an offer and I will get back to you!

Here is the little wonder!

Hey Will,

The Tornado is a bike made with Latin American specifications and is therefore not on the Canadian RIV. Bikes not listed on Canadian Border Services RIV must be 15 years or older before they can enter Canada. Not too sure about your bike! Called Canadian Border Services and everything to check for my bike, the original plan was to take her to Alaska, but now that's not possible. Regardless, it has been an amazing trip!

I thought all that RIV gobbledeegook applied to permanent importation, not temporary. Are you saying that you cannot enter Canada at all with the bike, or that you cannot enter and do a permanent import?

Right now I'm in Ecuador, so I have no personal experience with temporary imports into Canada, but have read a couple threads on horizons where Canadians have had issues en route to Alaska. It may be rare or just lick of the draw. But the people of Transport Canada seemed to imply over the phone that neither temporary or permanent import was possible with my bike. Sorry I cannot be more precise!

We will be in Cartagena Colombia mid July and looking for a bike which can ride to people.

Happy travel

Hey Moaref,

Unfortunately I didn't hear anything back so I decided to move on and head to Panama. Just arrived today by boat and was unable to update prior. Good luck finding a bike!
