Interesting. I've got the identical bike, identically set up (although in a more sedate color scheme) which has reached the end of its natural lifespan near 100,000 miles. I'm looking for a replacement in Washington state, but in no particular hurry. If I don't find one by September, I'm just south of Vancouver.

Do you mind saying why you had all the work done? Piston, chains, rings, seal, presumably valves (or at least guides), etc.?

My plan was to ride to Alaska, fly to Magadan(Russia), ride the Road of Bones and Mongolia back to Austria. But: The custom in Russia is complicate and coold take weeks. And I can´t register the KLR in Austria, because the law is too strict. That´s why I sell the KLR and start the trip to Mongolia with my Honda 650 Dominator from Austria.

Thanks for your response. I see why you are selling the KLR. I do not know why you did so much mechanical work: piston, cam chain, balancer, rings, etc.

When I came up from Southamerica the KLR consumed more oil than usual. I am not used to oilconsume because the Hondas I owned never needed to fill up between the regular oilchanges. I was concerned about because I wanted to have a good engine for the trip to Mongolia. A friend of mine is a mechanic. He found that the cylinder of my KLR was worn out a bit and the rings were too soft. So he bored the cylinder and replaced piston and rings. Once open he also changed the chaines. then he said the bike will be ready for the next 60.000mi.
