Smile 2007 Kawi KLR650 in Central America for sale, US model, $3400 obo

I'm currently on a one way trip from California to Central America. If you're flying down to Costa Rica or neighborhood, you are looking for a ride, here is your chance. Plus I offer delivery service to airport or where ever you are.

Currently my schedule is end of May for Costa Rica, but that might get a little pushed out to mid June.

I bought this bike in the Bay Area, it's a California model. Currently 23k miles on it. 2007 model, last of the good ones. Still under US warranty. Well maintained, frequent oil changes, service done 6 weeks ago, valves adjusted. Tires I bought new before the trip, the front is in almost new shape and the rear has more than 50%. I estimate good for at least the trip back to the US. Color: Grey/black, as nice as a KLR can get!

Comes with new spare parts with me for a trip like this: Levers, cables, both inner tubes, brake pads and a chain.

Also I throw in the bag setup: A tank bag, saddle bags and a lockable waterproof container on the rear. With locks.

Perfect setup for riding around here, going further around in the world or returning to the US. Took me a while to prepare a bike like that.

Has been down, but hey: It's a dual sport. Everything is well, only the emergency switch is currently shortwired, but who needs this when you have a key to switch of. If that's important to you, bring the spare from the US, mechanics down here are all over the place and they work for cheap.

The bike runs great, more on the blog: Dirk's motorcycle diaries

Asking 3.4k, throw in an offer!

Dirk

very interested

Hi Dirk

I could be very interested in your bike.
Though british I have been travelling for about 5 years now and me n my 4x4 are currently in New Mexico.
I should be flying into Guatemala towards end of May / beginning of June.
Will be setting up a base for few months on shores of Lake Atitlan.
I'll need wheels !
Was planning to just buy local when I get there, but your KLR looks sweet and ideal for my exploring.
We'll need to negotiate a little on price and we'll need to consider the complications of transfer of title. It may not be easy selling a US registered bike in another country.?????? I'll need to be happy that i won't get any serious hassle if taking bike across the borders. Any thoughts on this ?

If we can solve those points then I think the timing works well and so hopefully we can crack a deal.

Phil.

Thumbs up thanks for your interest

Hi Phil,

sounds good! We are on a similar schedule!

I'm new to this hubb side and I will try to send you a private message. We can exchange emails on your concerns. I think I'm able to help.

We need to work on the price negotiation upfront, because I have to rely on our eventual deal for scheduling my flights back. I don't want any surprises once we meet. You know my asking price, just make me an offer. If you think the bike is any different from what I described we can do some little final adjustments down here. But how much could it be? Keep in mind it"s an 07, not altered and modified in 10 years by 10 different crazy owners and doesn't have the wear of an old bike. Pretty much everything is original, I even kept the stupid CA emissions box on to make sure the US warranty will not be void. In case you want to bring it back to the US. Trust me, this bike is perfect for being down here.

Dirk

Smile Adventure motorbike for sale in Nicaragua/Costa Rica/Panama region

I'm a few weeks behind schedule since this is so awesome! I'm right now in Honduras and on my way to El Salvador and Nicaragua. Will be in the Nicaragua/Costa Rica/Panama region by the end of June.

And I forgot to mention: And comes not only perfectly prepped for riding down here, but also with maps, a briefing on the best roads and sites and more. If you want an "adventure ride ready in the box" this is your chance of a lifetime. PM me if that sounds good to you!

Thanks,
Dirk
