2004 KLR in Costa Rica

My friend Jake has a KLR for sale in Puerto Limon, Costa Rica. He's decided that for the local riding that he mostly does, a lighter bike is appropriate. I rode this bike last spring, and it runs well and felt strong--quite an improvement over the identical bike on which I was returning from Ushuaia.

Jake has done some work and upgrading on the bike in which his focus has been functional rather than aesthetic. He's a nice guy who tells the truth about stuff, a bit rough around the edges (like most of us here). I don't imagine there are better deals in Central America for this sort of bike, but then again what do I know? Here's his description:

[begin paste]

I still have the KLR, under a plastic sheet, waiting for a "novio" or pretender. It is a great bike, good condition, as you know, I take care of things, it would be a good opportunity for someone who wants to tour Central America without going thru Mexico etc. Maybe you can help me to sell it, you may know adventure sites where they buy and sell bikes. The people here are too small to ride a thing like this bike. And usually no money. Or they want something that shines and gleams, and looks nice, well, sorry, it does not look good at all, it looks like a victorious war veteran. I´ll sell it for $2500,- cash. 30 K on the clock, so it still has another 50 to go, doohickey done, and many more things done, one inch lowered, etc. I am getting fed up looking at the poor old thing standing in the yard here.
2004 A-18.

If interested, contact Jake directly at <jacodebr7545@yahoo.com> and let me know if you want a character reference or any other information I might be able to provide.

Hope this works for someone.
