I will be in Cape Town in early April with my British Registered 1989 Tenere XT600Z. I bought it in France last year with 14,000 dry miles on the clock. It was the cleanest bike I have ever seen, no rust and the laquer still gleaming on the engine cases. I have ridden about 6000 miles so far and she hasn't burneds an ounce of oil!
Now I am riding it down to Cape Town, currently in Cameroon. It will have about 24,000 miles on the clock by the time I arrive. It has a home fabbed pannier rack and boxes with touratech fittings that are far stronger than the ones you can buy off the rack, renthal riser bars and grips, ego barkbusters metal hand arcs, DID rims and all the usual tenere accessories: twin fuel taps, 23L tank, motocross pegs etc... By the time it arrives it will need a standard service (oil, pads, filters) and then it will be ready to turn around and head straight back up again! I have a brand new did chain, air filter, sprockets, plugs and brake cable that I can fit to it before I sell it. I bought it for 1650 GBP and spent 800 GBP prepping it. It still has a bit of a classic Tenere rattle but has had it since day one and I still can't work out what it is. Also the seat pad will want replacing as I installed a gel one and it melted in the desert! I will need you to pay the duty on it as I want my carnet deposit back. I don't really want the expense of the shipping so if you make me a sensible offer i will ride it round to your house so you can have a look. For a picture, there is one before I made the mods on: Arsing about Africa | England to Cape Town by motorbike. I will send you one through since I changed it if you are interested. I will have all the receipts for the last few years maintenance sent to CT before my arrival Regards Ed |
