1989 Tenere XT600 for sale (SW England)
1989 3AJ(4) Tenere, Red/White. Bought in France whilst I was living there, and then registered in England with about 14,000miles on the clock several months later (I still have the original clock). Since then I have put about 13,500miles on the clock. Total mileage about 27,500 miles. (Some Teneres have done over 150,000 miles!)
Since owning the bike it has always started first time and I have never known such a reliable, rugged vehicle. All engine parts are original.
2 owners from new. Service history stretching back 6 years. Good all-round condition, just fully serviced 2000 miles ago. Still has 2 or 3 months tax and MOT. If it doesn't go in the next two weeks I will put a year's MOT on it.
I will list below its features and modifications:
Standard Tenere features:
§ 24 litre tank
§ Twin fuel taps
§ Brake disc protector
§ Adjustable front and rear suspension.
§ DID rims and spokes
§ Alloy engine protector
§ Flip-up motocross pegs
Service just completed (last week):
§ Front and Rear brake pads
§ Brake fluid
§ Brake and clutch levers
§ Clutch cable
Nearly new:
§ DID X-ring chain.
§ Renthal hard-coated front sprocket.
§ Yamaha rear sprocket.
Tour Modifications:
§ Professionally fabricated steel pannier rack with 8 mounting points based around Touratech hoops and box mountings (so can be used with Touratech boxes). 2 X 40 litre aluminium pannier boxes with lockable clasps and 2 X 5 litre jerry cans mountings including jerry cans. (Keeps the weight forward and low.)
§ Barkbusters Ego aluminium hand guards with plastic wind protectors.
§ Renthal high rise bars
§ Large side stand sand plate.
Spares:
§ 3 X inner tubes, (1 X Front heavy duty Continental inner tube (3mm thick), 1 X Rear Heavy duty Continental inner tube, 1 X Standard rear inner tube)
§ New throttle cable.
§ Old clutch cable.
§ Old front sprocket (still in good cond.)
§ 2 X brake levers.
§ 1 X old air filter and spark plug (OK for emergencies)
§ Spare brake bulb
I bought the bike for well over GBP 2000 and the mods cost a heap, since then it has been well used and is therefore visually a little worn, it has had a small bit of paintwork done near the filler cap and a couple of the panels were modified to fit the pannier rack also the front rim has a small dent. Therefore, I think GBP 1400 is a very reasonable amount for a rare bike, prepped for an overland trip.
