Landcruiser Breakers

parts are getting hard to come by now for my H60
does anyone know of anyone that breaks these. Grosvenor Garage in reading used to, but don't anymore. I know there is a guy in sheffield but don't have any contact details for him.
any help (or parts!) much appreciated

Unfortunately you will struggle for 60 series parts - the best thing is to just keep on eye on eBay, occasionally they do come up.

yeh, there is a guy on there at the moment selling new bare cylinder heads. listing says he has more than 10. God knows where those came from! he wants over 400 quid for them though. given the number of H60s out there needing new cylinder heads I reckon he'll struggle at that price. 200 I might think about it just because it's there. e of the problems with ebay is there are thousands of parts listed for landcruisers very few of which are H60 and people don't always put H60 in the description

the real ebay find was last year, 1990 H60 with 67 miles on the clock!!
I guess it got left in the showroom when the new coil sprung model came out. bidding reached about 20 grand but didn't make the reserve!

I am contemplating a trip to morrocco to try and source body panels.

I think I may have sent you an email recently about renovating my cruiser!

Yes you did back in July, not heard a peep since.

Panel wise, there are a few options, but none of them cheap unfortunately.

I thought from your email you weren't able to help with renovation, just preparation.
what sort of panel options did you have in mind

body panels

Hello Moggy,

I would not count on finding 'new' bodypanels in morroco, though you can propably find good bodyshops to restore the remains of your existing panels.

But you can find some replacement bodypanels in Holland.

have a look here too for panels Landcruiser HJ 60-61, Bj. 80- - autoblechteile.de - not tried them but wish I'd found them a few years ago when I had my 62.

Missed out on one on ebay liek my old one last week and it only went for £1300 or so with a full MOT on it. Needed the arches and tailgate patching but only had around 140,000 miles on it.

One day, I will have another HJ62. It was the closest thing to doing everything we needed we ever had and I still to this day regret selling it

Moggy - let me know if you do decide to go to the RGS thingy at terrington as it'd be good to see a UK based 60 set up for travelling (and might just be enough to persuade SWMBO I need to get another!)

thats some great info thanks chris.
the cruiser is nothing special. you will see from some of my other posts I take a fairly minimalist approach to expedition kit!
mods are really limited to what has had to be done out of necessity. the side steps were replaced with modified 110 rocksliders so I could jack on them, mainly because the factory sidesteps rot out and fall off at very inconvenient moments! I have a custom made rear bumper that I can also jack off, which came about because the old one got damaged when my rear wheel came off on the autobahn and caught me up!
I've fitted 2 jate rings at the front for a recovery bridle to spread the load across the chassis
inside I've had a 12v accessory outlet fitted
thats about it. these vehicles were designed from the off to tackle the rough stuff so very little modification is really necessary.
although the chasis has never been welded the body is hanging. I really should get rid of it and buy something else (or get drunk!) but I just can't bring myself to do it, we've been through too much together!
mines the one at the front, the other I got just for the trip, it was a dog!!! most of the mods were done after this trip

We do all sorts - basically anything to do with Land Cruisers :-)

To be honest we've not done much with 60s but know others with older models have sourced them from either the US or the Middle East. We have some contacts in these ares that might be helpfull.

For longevity I would be inclined to steer clear of the second hand ones and try to aim for new/remanufactured ones - that way you can sort out the rust proofing from the outset - it's too tempting to ge a second hand one resprayed and stuck on without proper preventative rust treatment.
