105 flat battery

Hi all,

Got a wee problem with a 105. A small current drain is flattening the battery. Pull the fuse on the central locking and the problem disappears.

Any thoughts?

Jojo

Hi Jojo. Does the fuse only control the central locking? If so the likeliest candidate will be one of the actuators in one the doors which is getting stuck in an 'in-between' position if you see what I mean; in other words the actuator is always trying to close the door lock mechanism. The obvious first question is do all the doors lock when you use the CL? If not then the 'open' door actuator is faulty unless there's a mechanical fault (jamed lock, stuck rod etc). If they all lock then you'll have to check each door in turn which of course is a right pain as you'll have to take off all the door handles, panels etc. I suppose theoretically you could use an ammeter on each wire to see where the current draw is but that would be an equally time-consuming task and once youve found the fault you'd still have to pull off all the furniture.

If I were you I'd just pull the fuse!

A load of doorlocks!

Hi Quintin,

Thanks for your quick reply. I think you're right. Already thinking about replacing the tailgate lock with a mechanical unit!

Jojo
