Talking New to HU !!

Hi Everyone

I've just joined HU after finally taking the plunge and buying a R1200GSA. I'll be picking it up in November then in December I''ll be taking my first trip in Australia (I'm an Aussie) to work out the bugs and get it set up for some serious adventure both in Oz and other contintents!!

I've been looking at HU for some time now and it's truly superb - great stories, information and photos. I'm excited to be joining the motorcycle travel community and tap into the oceans of experience and information.

And I hope to meet some of you on the road in the near future

Cheers Daz

Welcome

Hey Daz! Welcome. If you make it up to the pointy bit of Oztralia give me a shout. If I'm off work (every second week) I can show you around the place.

That also goes for anyone else having a look see in northern Queenlsland.

Cheers
Marty

Hi Marty

As long as my brother organises the trip, I'll be heading up to Cape York in July 13. Maybe we can cross paths? Nothing like local knowledge! How do I save your name in this forum?

Cheers , Daz

Welcome to the HUBB.

You are in the perfect place to do your overlanding, I met some very switched on riders when I was out there. There is also a great selection of companies that make well thought out and sensible equipment for motorcycles actually based in Aus.

A few of the Aussie Adventure motorcycle type of magazines are very much worth getting on subscription with their detailed route write-ups and contacts.

Thanks for the tips, I'll check out the magazines when I get back to Oz

welcome

Welcome Daz. Not been using this long myself, only really got into it in the last few months. So far ?? Great !!! So much info if you look for it. Some great sounding people going by the stuff I've seen. Just can't stop my self having a peep every day, which turns into a hour or two ................

My wife reckons its a dating site ! ( I haven't had a "date" yet )

The only issue I have is how the hell do I choose my next trip !

It sure is addictive, I keep looking every night now and a lot of friendly folks and I'm getting very good advice on my posts. I'm trying to gather information for good "off the beaten track" rides in Oz and preparing for a South America to Alaska trip in a year or so. Where are your main destinations for touring?

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
