wHAT IS YOUR RANGE ON A STANDARD TANK FULL?
 

Today I managed 225 miles on my `91 XTZ660 and I still haven`t had to switch to reserve. This strikes me as pretty good:thumbup1:. Can anyone beat that?

That's pretty good. The 660 is renound for 70-80 mpg if treated with kid gloves.

However, you'll find that the throttle goes all the way round and strange loud noises eminate from the rear end, the bars go light and your smile will be too big for your helmet! :funmeteryes: :innocent:

My ural will do about 150 miles on a full 19 litre tank, but could manage about 190 (45MPG: my max ever). Consumption is by far my biggest gripe with the Ural.

My Honda XR400R, seems to have managed a consistenet 75 MPG (tarmac not dirt) giving me about 170 miles on the stardard 11.4 litre tank or 360 miles with the Acerbis 22 litre tank its sporting!! Shame the saddle only has a 80 miles limit before I have to stop and fill up on @rse padding and anti-inflammatories

derbi senda cross city 125 - 8 litres will get me 112 miles, but cause the fuel tanks so s**t it usually cuts out when theres less then two litres in the tank. :D

when I first got my 1985 R80Rt it would do 280Km before i needed reserve. after a basic service and new needles and needle jets it now does 320KM ( 200 miles) without needing reserve. My best ever mpg was 57 when accompanyinga diesel Enfield from france to Germany. ( running at 55-60mph) he was getting about 170 mpg :(

Riding back from Ireland to Somerset last summer on my 650 v-strom on the M4 near Bristol the last bar on my fuel gauge started flashing after 230 miles and after another 20 miles i pulled in to fill up, i could only get 17 litres of fuel in the tank even though it holds 22 litres from dry, so im guessing that gives me damn close to a 300 mile range!:mchappy: (riding at a steady 80 mph)

On my XR600 I did 227 miles on 10.6 litres (in the Western Sahara so warm with long straight roads and no traffic), which works out around 90mpg. This was based on full to full on a 40L tank so if I'd kept going I would have been able to do around 800 miles.

I did wonder whether this was some sort of cocked up measurement but the next two fuel stops gave me 72 mpg and 78 mpg and as these included driving around towns perhaps the first one wasn't so unbelievable. Round the UK the bike normally did around 50 -55mpg so why it liked the desert so much I've no idea.

I must say I am pretty impressed by these figures. Just goes to show a bike can do some respectable miles: even if a bigger tank is needed. If I were to believe what they tell us in the brochures of magazines I'd be left thinking that 50mpg was well above average!!

Not so, I'm happy to see.

My dad recently bought a Transalp new to replace his 1150RT. Based on the bumpf you get in the showroom and online we had expected about 50-55, but on a ride out of town he managed about 70-80!! OK, he was not riding like a loon and it is still being run in, but nonetheless, it really makes down sizing an attractive option, not to mention making touring a lot easier!

If not pushing it to hard I can pass 700 kms.

The Bonneville turns in 40-50 mpg even with the chair. The downside is Triumph compensated with only 13 litres to reserve and another 3 to empty. 140 miles isn't enough for Wales on a Sunday never mind anywhere really out of the way.

Ideally I want 200 miles without stopping, hence the auxilliary tank.

Riding in South America, I only got 200 miles from 20 litres on my XT600E..

That is until I started filling up in Brazil (30% ethanol) and then I got 300 miles for the same 20 liters :confused1:

Probably the fumes. Still only did 200 miles / tank but you couldn't see the speedo properly :rofl:

You soon give up Ural style* smoking on the move though :eek3:

* there is a little locker in the tank just big enough for a packet of fags and a Zippov lighter

Finally hit reserve at 250.4 miles today. That works out at 69mpg if the spec is correct at 3.5l reserve.

Shiny new Yamaha XTZ660 Tenere, was returning just over 60MPG when running in, first fill up after running in returned just shy of 70MPG, should equate to about 340 miles on a full tank, what a bike :thumbup1:
