Travel Books at the Motorcycle Live show at the NEC

Hi All,
I'm chuffed as nuts! I’m book signing at Motorcycle Live Show at the NEC. If you are planning to go, please do pop on over to the Traveldri Plus stand in Hall 2 www.traveldriplus.com – next to the KTM stand. We will have all my books on sale there, plus Les has expanded his range to include a great selection of other adventure motorcycle travel books. Of course he will also have his usual excellent selection of travel kit goodies. He tells me that he’s lined up quite a few special offers just for the show.

On different days you also have the chance to get books signed by the likes of Simon Gandolfi – Old Man on a Bike (and he has some very interesting news for everyone), Simon Roberts – Tea with Bin Laden’s Brother (A completely unique and very readable book) and Chris Scott (who you bloomin well ought to know! ). There’s also a rumour that Austin Vince might roll in too, but tying him down is an easier said job than done!

The second bit of news is for those of you planning to come to the show, and for those in the UK or Ireland who can’t make it.
  • If you are going to be at the NEC we are going to give away a £15.99 ‘Tortillas to Totems’ T-shirt, free to each person who buys 3+ of my books. That’s for as long as the T-shirts last! You can solve a lot of Christmas present ideas this way, and keep one for yourself! Just a thought...
  • If you can’t make it to the NEC, log on to our website www.sam-manicom.com as we have a limited period special offer for you too.
Happy travels,
Sam and Birgit
PS We are delighted with the Media Reviews Tortillas to Totems : Reviews : Sam Manicom and the Readers Feedback Tortillas to Totems : Feedback : Sam Manicom we have so far on my latest book Tortillas to Totems! Many thanks to everyone who has been involved with those. I really appreciate your thoughts. They keep me on track!

Muppix, it's lining up to be a goodie! Really looking forward to it now. Often, other than HU Meets, its the only time I see travelling friends from other parts of the UK. Great opportunity!

See you there!

Hi,
Good question! They never really put any info in about travel writers (except Charlie that is) and in fact this year is the first year for a long time that they've done any promo work at all for anything to do with adventure motorcycling. Shame eh. I think its because most of us don't ride race bikes... Odd really...

If anyone reading this feels that the organisers ought to be doing more for the world of adventure travel, (promotion, exhibits, book signings etc) then perhaps you'd like to take a couple of minutes out and drop'em a line. There's just time to make a difference. enquiries@motorcyclelive.co.uk (yes I know, soap box time : )

But to answer your question
The week is spread out like this with authors on Traveldri-Plus:
27th - Simon Roberts
28th - Just me : )
29th - Simon Roberts
30th - Just me again
1st - Simon Roberts
2nd - Simon Roberts
3rd - Chris Scott
4th - Simon Gandolfi
5th - Simon Gandolfi
I'm lucky enough to be able to there every day so if you need some of my type of wall insulation, then I'll be easy to snag.

And Austin, I don't think Traveldri have heard from him yet. But that's ok, if Austin fancies a stint and can make it, then he'll turn up - probably with his usual huge grin and things hanging off his DR350!

Sam

I emailed motorcycle live; it would be good to have a more visible presence in their advertisements! I'm looking forward to seeing the new bikes, but excited to discover some of the people you've mentioned are to be there! Thanks for that.

Hi Sam
Long time no see, I'll be there next Saturday (snow allowing), with a bit of a rendezvous planned at your stand at 12 noon, so see you then I'll be the one doing the tea run.

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
