Cheap drinks? Your in Sydney so thats a hard one. Go to a small local pub away from tourist areas for that. Or for people watching, fish and chips, nice pub with great view back to the harbour bridge go to Watsons bay from there you can walk along the beach to some nice little coves and beaches.

Other than that the usual tourist/local spots are the rocks area, (some nice old pubs there) Bondi Beach-go to the surf club bar overlooking the beach at the south end. Cheapish drinks and one of the best views in Sydney-continue the beach walk around to Bronte beach or further-one of the best things to do in Sydney.

Kings Cross is the most overrated area in Sydney IMHO, some great food ,bars but be careful walking around at night it can have a bad vibe at times. Sydney is such a touristy city, locals mix with tourists everywhere so its hard to tap into a "local" scene as such.

Have fun

Newtown is quite a good place for eating and some nice pubs there, along king street.
Deus ex Machina motorcycles at camperdown (parramatta road) is always good for breakfast and have a look at the bikes if youre into that kinda thing.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
