Strangest couch-surfing experience?

Hi all,
Please share some stories of your own or other travelers who have stayed with people who are somewhat eccentric or unusual or simply do unusual things :pinch:, simply to satisfy my curiosity..

Cheers :thumbup1:

Here’s one………two years ago, Somerset, UK. Stayed at a remote farm campsite run by a nice old Canadian bloke of 88. Turned out he’d come over during WW2, met the local farmer’s daughter, married her and settled locally. She had died about 10 years previously but because she had ridden a m/c he was keen to show me photos etc. Then out came the war souvenirs, including a Japanese officers dress sword and a bloodstained hat, followed by a British Army machine gun in pristine condition, which he then proceeded to load and fire into the night sky. I have to admit being a little unsettled by this, but stayed put as I had nowhere else to go, but I was up bright and very early the next morning. Just goes to show that you can find ‘interesting ‘ people anywhere…….

:eek3:

The guy who'd wake up in the mornings and wander around in his tidey whiteys while sporting his morningwood. It's been 20 years since I've seen him or stayed at his place with some friends, but that one still sticks out. Bad pun may or may not have been intended.

Very ironic experience..

Stayed with a German girl at her flat just ouside Munich. The first evening was spent breaking into her old flat that was now a building site and taking an axe, saw and knife to her old couch to destroy it, so it could be recycled?!
