Brilliant mate, just finished them... well done. I hear you're in the USA. Are you filming this trip? I hope so.

Hi Guys

Thanks for kind words. Im off to USA in August. Not sure whether to film or not, takes up so much time and energy. I'll decide sooner to setting off perhaps.

The KTM ended up on a truck from Karachi, to Lahore - Amritsar, then to Delhi when it was flown to Bangkok and repaired there. Then some other stuff went wrong in Indonesia but made it all the way to perth then across to Sydney when it was flown back to Dubai and sold. I dont know how he managed to part with it. Apparently the other KTM's had some issues in north pakistan, a severe engine failure I think.
Cheers

Long Live the Tiger!

Fantastic work ... really enjoyed the series. Funny to hear the KTM guys had to eat Crow in the end! doh
I knew your 1050 would make it easy ... like you, I've also been to the Triumph factory and have seen how they are made. (Hinckley, not Thailand)

I've only done a couple two week long tours in the Western USA on my 1050 and many long weekends. Has never missed a beat, but I'm only on 20K miles so far. My DR650 gets most of the miles and the hard off road use, but I have taken the Tiger on quite a few dirt roads. It's OK once you get used to it.

Big Kudos for the epic tour! :D:clap::D bier

I’m sure it was a royal pain in the behind with all the stopping, starting, editing etc. whilst still trying to cover the miles, but in my humble opinion it was well worthwhile. I think you did a sterling job!

Thanks for the honesty too (at the start of Iran for example) as I know it isn’t all sunshine and smiles out there. I rode a lap of Turkey last year and your footage of ballooning in Cappadocia brought it all back and all the videos made me want to get on the bike and go see a little more of the world so thanks for that.

I read a week or two ago that a Spanish cyclist and his Police escorts were ambushed crossing Pakistan leaving 5 Police Officers dead, so you timed it well!

Perhaps one day I’ll be able to get back out there, but for now with one kid and another on the way, I’ll have to make do with excellent videos such as yours and class adventure as a weekly trip to Sainsbury’s – for now.

Ps. I rode across America a couple of years ago and have never known a friendlier, kinder and more welcoming race of people in all of my travels and it is a stunningly beautiful country to boot. You’re in for a superb time and if you call through Sturgis during rally week and keep yourself occupied with the plentiful sights til’ Bonneville, you can’t go far wrong!

Just watched all 6 episodes over the past 2 days, and what a great watch it was. You have some seriously good editing skills. Thank you for taking the time and effort, its much appreciated and a BIG +1 on filming your USA trip :)

watched the first 2 this morning, very enjoyable.:thumbup1:

You seemed to have a facial hair continuity problem in Turkey:rofl:

I presume you used a tripod for some bits, then edited out the bits where you had to ride away and back again, then used random people to film some other bits.

great tip about the Sherborne show, never heard of it but only just up the road from me.

Glad you noticed the Turkey phenomenom. I had a dodgy tummy and the arse diet took so long to mend I grew a beard on the toilet. But as my producer and director said, that doesnt make good TV. The camera crew had the shits as well, the script writers went on strike as it was Sunday and the make up girls would'nt shave me or my face. Our team couldn't afford a continuity supervisor as we had spent the budget on hair remover and beer, I think it looked better pissed myself ... jeez does Ewan have to deal with this ?

hahaha really - well spotted..

random people, well any unsuspecting bystander, they're all called Claudio ...

Yes go to the show and tell em Steven sent you, they will give you a blank look and still demand credit card though.

Had a day off work today, so watched them back to back. A good way of spending a day! Brilliant!

 such is the price of fame!

what camera gear were you using BTW, and what editing software?

Started to watch your vids but the sound went on my laptop doh On the Iran one you talk a bit about getting ripped off - i then saw a guy with glasses sat on your bike , does this involve him ? He keeps popping up on the hub as a "fixer" with various opinions about him . Mostly he helps you across the border for a fee , then takes you to his house and visitors get a bill in the morning for food and accomodation , sometimes he also "borrows" their bikes for a quick spin that turns oout to be slightly longer than anticipated .

Only episode 6 now seems available? I only got to the second! I don't think it's just me being a Luddite . . . doh

mollydog 6 Feb 2014 00:06

Yea ... they've all gone "Private".
Could be he has plans to release a CD for sale ... make a few bucks to pay for the trip? I know I wouldn't buy the CD if it were on U Tube FREE!

Even RTW folks got to eat! bier
