+1 if you don't already have one get a job and start saving, and go out for regular bike rides to ease the come down.

It helps if you seek out the company of other travellers, it is a long time to the HUBB meeting but think about taking in a mini meet or some other travellers event.

Meeting.

Setting up a meeting is a good idea. Just post an invitation to a pub or cafe locally and chat together to other like minds. Lindsay.

Really? I've tried all of those things and I'm still struggling. Been home 6 weeks and am still struggling big time. So at the moment I'm fixing up my monkey bike and planning a trip to Cornwall in November ...thought the dark nights and cold weather might help put me off....but i bet it won't.

+2 for planning the next trip, I was in the same boat earlier this year, back after 5 months on the road, took me a couple of months to settle in to home life and work etc. Even as we were traveling home the next trip was being talked about, so were off again this december all going well.

Solution for us is to go on a couple of big['ish] trips per year, typically lasting around 60 days /trip. Halfway in-between each of these we get away again, as far as we can go, for another 'mini' 10-15 day trip. This way there's always a travel expedition to plan for, and look forward to, which is just over the horizon.

We work during the 'at home' gaps in-between, which takes care of the financial side of it all.

Perfection .. well, 'tis for us anyway.

We didn't have a home to come back to - this was part of the plan so when the trip finished we threw ourselves into the next phase which was deciding what to do next. My wife was expecting so that teneded to focus the mind.

All I can suggest is write the book, finish the blog or catalogue the photos.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
