new in peru-need some good help
 

Hole amigos.

my name is rom, 23 yold and starting my first motorcycle trip in south America.

I just Arrived Peru lat week and been looking for the right bike to start my trip.

By now i found only chinse bikes and an XR600r that was in great shape but quite expensive for 98 bike

[4800usd- what do you think? is that the price here?]

my plan is to buy a bike and go throgh Chile, Bolivia and Brazil with as much Off road as possible.

my budget is up to 6000usd after every thing- gear, bike preparations and firts fueltank[jk]::scooter:

I will be grateful for some help and guidance for the start.

-which bike would you recommend for that trip?
-where is the best place to buy a bike in peru?
-route planning
-crossing boarders

*I would be happy to start my trip with partners [for the beginning at least]

Just so you will know - I ride and race for many years so i have no problem with riding or in

navigating. my weaknesses are in spanish and complex mechanics.

My advice on the bike: Go small. Latin America is chock-full of cheap 125cc utility bikes. They might not be the fasted or best off-road, but they're tough and will get there. Parts available everywhere and great fuel economy. You and your money will go much farther on a locally available bike.

I'm not sure what the procedure is for buying a bike legally in Peru, but you should look into that first before buying a bike.

As far as border crossings, what is your nationality on your passport? Some Countries require visas for certain nationalities (Brazil, Bolivia, among others). Overall Latin America borders are very simple and painless, even if a Visa is required.

There's plenty of information on here if you get on the search facility, but off the top of myhead; Secondhand bikes thin on the ground and expensive. Try the following websites; mercadolibre, neoauto, olxperu, vende.pe.
With that budget you may as well get a new honda xl200 or xr250. Or a 125 for a cheap, slow trip. Desert sport racing in Miraflores sell new Hondas.
You'll need a stamp in your passport from immigration to allow you to legally sign contracts (which you'll need to doto buya bike) - there's a very informative thread on here about buyinga bike in Peru - search for it.

Compulsory 3rd party insurance is 550 soles a year - shorter periods are available from La Positiva on Javier Prado.
