Need to name my bike! Any ideas?
Hi everyone,
not really a tech post but could do with a little help (especially from the more creative amongst you). I have owned my xt600 for about half a year and have still not given he/she/it a name, if anybody could come up with a good idea then it would be really great!

Don't pay any attention to Wolfie. What can you expect from someone who owns a V8 RANGRover?

Such a pretty, clean, baby blue bike with such shiny, shiny panniers...

I would call it Ewan the Explorer.... or how about Charlie the Adventurer?



[Only teasing, btw. Personally I think you should be flexible. My bikes' names vary from 'Sexy Beast on Wheels' to 'Stupid Heap of Sh*t' - depending on how it behaves. But mostly, I think 'bike' is a pretty all-round name.]


PS: You are probably better off moving this post to the 'Bar' if the mods don't do it for you.

The irony is that I drive an ice-cream van for a living at the moment so Mr Whippy suits quite well. I was thinking of calling it 'The Jackal'.

I have 2 bikes. One is called "The big 'un" the other? you guessed it "the little 'un"

Although you're in good company T E Lawrence named his bikes "George".

Maybe I am getting old or just don't get ?

I have 3 bikes in the garage, an XJR1300Sp, an XJ900F and my wife's Aprillia Pegasso Trail.

They are called

XJR
XJ
Pegasso

Why not call yours XT ?

When we did our trans africa trip years ago, on the Bilboa ferry to Spain we got pissed and entered the ship pub quiz thingy.

One of the questions asked us to name all the members of Take That - we knew them all except Howard (Barlow)

So we missed winning the quiz by one point and missed out on the bottle of champagne for the winners

So our name was gifted to us "Howard the Bike" - all through the trip we referred to Howard as though he were a person, wondering if he was alright when it was raining, wondering if he was okay when we were sat in restaurants, it sure confused a lot of people wondering who the hell Howard was

Just anthropomorphisize (:confused1 your bike, you gotta decide if it's a he or a she and then choose the right name - it will stick

I'm sorry, but 'Stupid Heap of Sh*t' is already taken.

It sure has a nice ring to it....and it's fully androgenous as well, therefore equally applicable whether the bike is male or female.

well i still reckon mr whippy is a good name and i'm sober now.
i was fist as a part when i called it that in the early hours of sunday mornin
it matches your job and shows a bit of humour, anything with a "the" in the middle makes it sound like its part of the thomas THE tank engine books/tv series and that would make you the fat controller

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love.
