The worlds most dangerous roads

The BBC has just started a three part series entitled the worlds most dangerous roads. The first part which has Sue Perkins and Charlie Booringman heading up the Dalton highway in Alaska was on last night and is repeated tonight, 5th September, also on iplayer.
From what I saw of it before the weekends revelries drove me to bed at 9.30 looked slightly interesting and I will set the recorder to get the second half.
Other programmes include what looks like the camino del muerte in Bolivia and somewhere I did not recognise.
Again UK and I am told Europe on freesat only.

Anyone who would choose the Dalton Highway (a.k.a. Haul Road) as one of the world's most dangerous roads has relinquished any claim to being a reliable source of information. I sure hope it's at least good entertainment. Of some sort.

The Bolivian road wasn't too risky either, but at least it used to be dangerous.

I fired up the Betamax to tape it. Obviously not expecting any useful or realistic content but will watch it anyway.

I also recorded it, I actually felt sorry for Charly B, being stuck with that stupid bitch, he could not have been blamed if he had booted her out the 4x4 and left her. on the brighter side, the next in the series can only get better.

They obviously haven't ridden the A38 between Liskeard and Bodmin on a bank holiday!
Hope it gets shown here in Canada sometime this winter. It'll help me fight the winter blues.

Kindest regards

Watched it last night and didn’t feel like I’d completely wasted an hour of my life.

I struggled a little with how many times the narrator used the “Extreme” word and also with CB’s “When I did the Dakar Rally” comment.

Let’s remind ourselves that this is a pretty busy route with many thousands of tons of freight trundling up and down it each year with few incidents. Yes, they could have dropped it off the road or got twatted by a big f*ck-off truck, but "into the jaws of death" it wasn't.

I'll watch the rest of the series though; got to have something to look at while I'm eating me tea. :-)

Next week is Nepal, I believe there is only 3 in the series.

Nice find. Quite enjoyed the programme, though I think CB should have taken the GS up the road...

Charlie Boormans "panic" mode always makes me laugh!

Thought the Nepal one was quite interesting. Definately one of the more entertaining programs on the goggle box

There's a new series with CB riding across Canada starting (I think) in January on channel 5 here in the UK, in case anyone's interested? (Don't shoot the messenger!!!)

This is the official website:

For the second biggest country in the world Canada seems to attract very little attention from travellers and travel writers, perhaps this series will help redress that situation.

Oh Lord, there's that "extreme" word again. I think I might partake in some extreme tea making later, followed by some extreme bicky dunking. Cue the thrash metal soundtrack and devil's horn hand signal.
