Indian visa hassles in bangladesh, any advice
Hi Folks,
My partner is currently in dhaka, Bangladesh where she has been volunteering for a spinal injury hospital ( google crp Bangladesh, if your interested) as a physio for the past 2 months. She was intending to travel in india for the next few months and has flights booked in mid april to return home from india. Problem is that after applying for a six month tourist visa from the indian consulate in bangladesh they have issued her a 2 month one. This is a pain as her flights are not untill april. they are refusing to change it and generally will not answer any questions. Now as far as i know she can leave the country after 2 months ( to sri lankar, nepal, etc) re apply then return to india. this is fine but completly ruins her travel plans for india plus will cost a small fortune in flights. my question is has anyone had any experience of the indian consulate in bangladesh, should she stick to her guns and stay there till they give her a six month visa or should she cut her loses and just head into india on the two month visa and try and sort it from there. Also whats the chances of extending it whilst in India? Any advice would be greatly appreciated |
I have no information or experience of the Indian embassy in Dhaka but the 2 month re-entry rule has been scrapped which might be helpful to your partner.
