I cant quite understand why anyone that believes in God or Allah thinks that killing anyone in their name is acceptable.

Interesting comment.

But I always thought, this is a motorbike website and not a religious one.
Please enlighten me.

Cheers Rusty

The only religion we all should have is: "The allmighty road!". But as sad as it is.... even the road kills sometimes...

Rusty, if you truly seek enlightenment, go to a religious website. This is a motorbike one.

Dazzer, there are religious people, there are religious extremists and there are religious extremists who exploit religious people to further their own agendas. It's been going on for ages.
Go for a ride on the motorbike and when you get back have a few and maybe a game of "hide the sausage" with the wife/girlfriend. Then, after a good night's kip, all will be well.

Simple people. Manipulated by warlords for fame/money/glory etc.

I have ZERO sympathy for anyone involved with what happened but I can see how they are controlled and brainwashed from birth.

Sometimes "we" bomb other people arguing civil/human rights protection after the media brainwash us... and the actual reason backing the action is more "stock options" for some companies board members. Killing is really big shame/pity in both cases ("ours" and "theirs"), being the big difference that their innocent people dying are just collateral damages...

Thus, I'd prefer not to think too much and rather support Starbeck's proposal.

This world is a world I don’t understand. When at home I struggle to identify with people’s agendas. When travelling, particularly by motorcycle, I meet lots of fun and tolerant people of all religions.

Having no religion myself, when some fundamentalist spouts forth bile and hate, all I can think of is the Martyrdom of St. Victor

'And it came to pass that Saint Victor was taken from this place to another place. Where he was lain upon pillows of silk and made to rest himself amongst sheets of muslin and velvet. And there stroked was he by maidens of the Orient. For sixteen days and nights stroked they him, yea verily and caressed him. His hair, ruffled they. And their fingers rubbethed they in oil of olives, and ranneth them across all parts of his body for as much as to soothe him. And the soles of his feet licked they. And the upper parts of his thigh did they anoint with the balm of forbidden trees. And with the teeth of their mouths, nibbleth they the pointed bits at the top of his ears. Yea verily, and did their tongues thereof make themselves acquainted with his most secret places. For fifteen days and nights did Victor withstand these maidens. But on the 16th day he cried out, saying: 'This is fantastic! Oh, this is terrific!!' And the Lord did hear the cry of Victor. And verily came He down and slew the maidens. And caused their cottonwool bugs to blow away, and their Kleenex to be laid waste utterly. And Victor, in his anguish, cried out that the Lord was a rotten bastard. And the Lord sent an angel to comfort Victor for the weekend. And entered they together the jaccuzzi.'

Here endeth the lesson.
