BUT the basic rules of polite and civil conduct which everyone agreed to when signing up for the HUBB, will still apply, though moderation will be a LITTLE looser than elsewhere on the HUBB.

how does leaving your motobike & paperwork work?

in short: if you buy a motobike in country A and want to leave it extensively in country B .. what paper work needs to be filled out?

how does it work?

in a real example - if I buy a bike in Poland / European Union and want to leave it over winter preferably in Turkey (I have good friends there and flights are cheapest from Istanbul to Insia/Asia..)

how can this be done ?

maybe I should buy / leave it elsewhere ..

I am trying to do my homework ahead of time ..

thank you ..

The question is best asked in the relevant forum, each country differs. While it will be easier to do this with a bike in the EU you still have to conform to country laws. In the UK we have continuous insurance and road tax required unless you declare the vehicle SORN (Statuary Off Road Notification), other EU countries ... dunno ?

And I don't think Turkey is the most straight forward country to leave one in, better off elsewhere such as Greece, Bulgaria or Georgia.

so say I wanted to leave it in any country - what is the law - bike can stay as long as I can stay per my visa?

or how does it usually work?

when I enter they put an exit date for the bike as well?

thank you ..

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
