From 4 to 2 wheels

Well as the name suggests I have been into my 4x4's for years and love exploring off road. I have also been a biker on the road (with the usual dirt bike messing around) so now I am the proud owner of a BMW R1150GS and loving it. I am an English guy working in Oz for a bit so have it as a plaything. Cant stop messing with it as it needed a lot of work due tot eh high kms but that is part of the fun for me.

Need to start planning some trips now.

I am passionate about motorbikes, but riding with my wife 2up to West Africa was not possible to get where we wanted to go 10 years ago (Sahara), so we took a 4x4.

My advice - utilise which ever works for you for a particular trip and enjoy both!

Have the same bike as you at the moment but changing to a 4x4 for some long trips with the wife.

Great bikes, hope you enjoy it.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
