Evenin' all

Its been a while since my last post on here; to be fair I haven't really done anything worth posting, but just thought Id pop back and see if any familiar Hubbers are still around?

Also, does anyone know of any good B&Bs/Inns/Guesthouses in and around Ingleborough in the Yorkshire Dales? May finally be making that elusive trip to Scotland this week on my 125, its been three years in the making!

Cheers,
Tom.

Ingleborough!

Just turn up and ask around, they still speak englishish, or they did the last time I was there, but you're still a long way from Scotland where you really have to concentrate on what they are saying and a lot of it still doesn't make sense

It's clear that you find the "concentration" part a bit of a challenge....as for it "making sense"..well, you could try travelling a little beyond your parish; don't be afraid - go and meet the world out there...tho' you may not like it.:scooter:. You say a big trip for you is Mabelthorpe; it's a start! You also say that to "Scotland is a long way "; well from where you are it's about 150 miles. A huge challenge for you of course, but if you're bold and rufty-tufty, I think you can do it. And if you can't understand what people say there- well, you could always shout at them. That's a well tried method from those who have your difficulties.

Let us know how you got on? :biggrin3:

I see you struggle a bit with written English, but you can improve.

cheers guys

Just trying to get in at the Gale Green Cottage in Ingleton. Setting off tomorrow night and hoping to get up to Eskdalemuir and back on Wednesday.

Might be a bit of a push but just getting over the border will be a long awaited achievement, and it sets a bench mark for future trips.

Hope the weather holds, did it many years ago two-up on a 125 with camping gear, it was wearing a bit thin by the time we hit the border but the Highlands and Islands were a blast.
Caminando, I've just got back from Antarctica, I was working with a big ugly bastard from Glasgow who I constantly had to ask to speak English, I found it easier to beat him with a stick than shout myself hoarse, really glad you remember me, so good to be back in civilisation.
Bloody Antarctica made me miss playing on the sands at Mablethorpe, you should try it next winter, clears the mind, a good laugh, but take a spare pair of underpants! at least!

Tommy, enjoy. If you're into it, visit Samye Ling Tibetan monastery on Eskdale Muir. If you go further north, stick to the west coast, generally. If you get the Western Isles, be prepared for a type of landscape which you might not have seen before. Uist is special.

Ooty; You should have shouted louder from your igloo at the bloke. In your own impenetrable accent of course.:biggrin3: Or just gargled, "I'm going outside, I may be some time."
Or whistled "On Ilkley moor baatat", for your best communication experience. All this, before you got your Glasgow kiss - or you might have found whistling a teeny bit difficult? And you say he was "ugly" - do you mean you didn't fancy him?

Good to see a healthy international outlook from you though! :scooter:
PS. being an igloo fitter must have been great:thumbup1:. Nice work if you can get it.
