How VERY astute of you, young man!! It is INDEED true that our forum odometers only clock USEFUL miles.

Indeed!! Moving only slightly off topic, my own odometer has been showing high numbers over the past two or three years, yet I don't feel I've been getting much fun from the bike; I've done a lot of commuting, but very little travelling (OK, commuting on the bike is better than in the car, but it's not what I really want to be doing).

If I only showed travelling miles, not commuting, or picking a child up from school, or running an errand that I should have used the car for or any of the other duty journeys...

If I hadn't spent so much TIME and MONEY on them I might (should) have done more real travelling.

That sounds soooooo unhappppy!!! I thought only Londoners get so wrapped up in 'commuting' that they forget to have fun!

HOWEVER --- I DEFINITELY don't think that only 'travelling' miles are fun miles... and the way you sneak in 'gratuitous' bike fun, is brilliant!!

Don't know if its because I'm a constant danger to myself and others - or because commuting in London is running a gauntlet of crazy couriers, obnoxious cabs and kamikaze pedestrians.. but EVERY mile I put on my bike commuting, is like a BIG ADVENTURE trying to stay alive!
