BMW R1200GS for Americas Adventure

Hi Adventurers,

I am busy with a trip from Alaska to Argentine currently heading towards Chile. I am travelling with my wife on a 2012 BMW R1200GS which I bought earlier this year in Anchorage (with 500 km on the clock). Superb ride thus far on a dream maschine and still spotless.

At the end of the trip early in February 2014, I would like to sell the bike plus all extras (paniers, topbox, tankbag, slipplate & engine protection bars, GPS etc.) to someone that is planning the reverse / similar trip - Argentina to USA or export the bike to Australia where I live. The latter option has its challenges with high import duties and conversion costs.

So anyone that would like to discuss buying the bike (note USA registered) either in Argentina or in the USA from us, please connect.

Safe travels and have a great festive season, Jacobus & Amanda.

In my experience buying a Foreign moto in Argentina is a right can of worms as several HU travellers can confirm. My advice would be to sell it in Chile, the paperwork is simpler and the new owner will not have the any of the problems getting the moto out of Chile that they would have in Argentina. I have a 2004 1200GS and have done the top - bottom - top of the Americas 2.5 times on it. (the .5 was the result of me and the moto getting dinged by a drunk driver in Mexico, I was 6 weeks in hospital and the bike was ridden to the police pound, the DD did about US$2500.00 worth of damage his VW Jetta.) Ride safe

Hi,

There is a specific area on this site for 'Bikes for Sale/Wanted'. You may have better luck there.

Cheers
