Best riding/driving roads
Is there a best riding roads section on the HUBB?:mchappy:
i.e roads or route members enjoy for a weekend ride. (Can't be off on a trip all the time) e.g. i like A44 evesham to moreton in marsh up fish hill :funmeteryes: |

BestBikingRoads.com Motorcycle Travel, Motorcycle Touring, Motorcycle Routes, Motorcycle Roads, Motorcycle GPS, GPS Motorcycle Rides, Motorbike Roads ...seems to get a lot of recommendations on here. My favourites, all in the north of England/Scottish Borders and in no particular order..
Bikewise - Home Basically, they know exactly what the crack is and would prefer you to go out into the countryside instead of residential areas to enjoy yourself. They've even produced some handy maps showing where the best roads are. BikeWise Training - Riding in the Durham Dales Isn't that nice of them? :clap: Be warned though, they have some very trick unmarked bikes including, if the rumours are true, a brand new Fireblade (white/black) and will have you if you take the p*** or speed through villages. |
Thanks had a look on BestBikingRoads.com unfortunatly for me alot of the local routes seem to be picked by sports bike riders with comments like great straights and long sweepers, personally i prefer tight twisty roads that more test rider ability rather than a riders luck (long straights and long sweepers only one reason for them how fast can i go)

The Whitby road is one I'd put into the fast sweepers section. It's fun with good road surfaces but not really challenging at legal speeds. A good road to practice your observation/planning/overtaking skills on. It's usually our Good Friday ride out for fish and chips in Whitby. The road to Scarborough is better and worth the run out for the racing at Oliver's Mount. There's one particular corner on that road, almost a 90 deg left with a farmers gate on the opposite side of the road. The gate is a different colour every year as there's so many bikes have overshot the corner, gone through it and into the field!

It's ages since I've ridden the B6278. The section that runs between Stanhope and Barnard Castle is quite deserted apart from the sheep, depending on time of year. Tend to get wandering lambs running across the roads back to the flock at the sound of a bike or car. The B6276 is another I haven't ridden for a while. Watch out for rabbits if you ride it at night.
