Any bank workers out there?

Hi all,

Maybe someone can help me. I need to take out a large amount of cash in Chile to buy a second hand moto. Is there a quick way to do this? My card limit daily is 500 USD. I was wondering if perhaps there is a facility in a bank where they could charge my visa (as visa transactions have no limit) and issue me the cash? Any advice would be welcome.

Best wishes

hmmm.. no one gave an answer yet so I will give my 2 cents....

When I send money abroad (family for example or paying rental bikes abroad) I tend to use the dreaded Paypal. Despite them taking a small cut, the price is still ok compared with banks' fees, charges etc....
If you are buying from someone with a Paypal account, it could be a quick solution?

I'll chime-in.

I bought a s/hand New Zealand vehicle on my credit card in December 2006. I was a visiting tourist (from England) at the time.

To make the transaction happen both the private vendor and I went together to his NZ bank branch. I handed my credit card to the bank clerk. She did some authenticity checks etc, which confirmed that the purchase was within my credit card limit.

Once everything was cleared the money was instantly transferred by my credit card provider directly into the vendor's bank account.

Very simple, BUT the transaction fees for me were a bit steep as I re-call; from memory, approximately GB£60 (US$100).

But it is (or was) do-able.

To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.
