What's so bl00dy newsworthy about setting off on a RTW trip in a Landcruiser? I never got a TV article about it, and neither did most of the other people on the HUBB!!

Should have pestered the Beeb on a quiet news day - some people are good at their own PR.

I may be wrong and hope I am, but what struck me was a lot of shiny unused kit, a lifted Landcruiser with heavy roof tent and gear combined with gravel roads is asking for a single vehicle roll.
Or maybe as a passenger I've just climbed out of the side/front of too many unstable rolled 4x4s (and not in a recreational off-roading way either)

why are you guys so negative?

If they want to PR their trip in terms of sponsorship etc then good for them, we all do things differently,

Its great to see this sort of thing on the BBC, it may give people the inspiration or balls to go off and do something interesting. This is not an exclusive club, and there is no secret.

Also, don't forget your typical crop of current BBC journalists will dumb anything down they can't sensationalise. Fail to follow what you are asked to do pre-interview and it's straight to the archive with no PR of any sort for you. The "and now for something more cheerful style" is IMHO more likely to be the journalists idea of where this should be pitched.

Hope they at least got lunch out of the Beeb.

Andy

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
