2-wheels 1-world 0-money THE MOVIE

Daniel Rintz from Berlin, who's one of The Ted Simon Foundation's Jupiter's Travellers, has launched a crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo to help him finance the post-production of the stunning film about his solo motorcycle journey from Germany to New Zealand "surviving only on the money he makes on the way."

Take a look at Daniel's pitch video here, which includes the trailer for the film, and if you'd like to see the full film get completed consider backing the project with a modest financial contribution.

Thankyou for bringing this to our attention Iain.
What an amazing man.

Hello there,

as I would love to see his movie, I am thinking of supporting Daniel Rintz, anybody else here on the HUBB in ?

What do you think about his project?

I contributed and the trailer looks awesome. I thought the wording in his campaign was a bit misleading though, I don't see paying for your holiday/trip as 'production costs', so I thought that was a bit cheeky and he could produce the edit for much less than 33k. But good luck to him! Crowbarred 20$ out of my stingy wallet. haha. Mainly because its clear he is a talented, experienced filmmaker.

They're not and that's not what Daniel's campaign is for. He funded the journey from Germany to New Zealand entirely by what he was able to earn along the way (which is an important part of the story).

Fantastic that you've contributed :)

Yeah I get that, which is why I contributed. But if you check the wording "We have covered 85% (136.000 Euro) of the production cost already." - included in his break down is the living costs from the trip (even his visas/jabs!). I still contributed, just thought it was a bit misleading. Just say "I went on an epic adventure and I need your help to fund post production". haha.

Dear Fraserbyrne,

Thank you very much for your contribution to the Indiegogo campaign. I very much appreciate this! I will continue to work very hard and provide you with an awesome, entertaining and hopefully even educating film that I hope you will enjoy watching.

Also, thank you for being honest and commenting on how the production costs that I stated, can be seen as the costs of someone's holidays. Please let me explain, why I don't like to think of the trip as a holiday at all. I went on the venture with the intention to make a film about it right from the beginning. No matter where this would lead me. I started on a zero budget (given a full tank of fuel and a full stomach) and I had to work very hard to make enough to survive and continue my quest. Every single dollar I made went directly into covering another mile. And yes this also meant paying for visas. I was vulnerable in all possible ways, no security, no preparing for the future (retirement fund), no decent health care, no easy way out.

All I cared about was the experience and TO SHARE IT. If I hadn't documented it all, logged 946 online diary entries along the way and taken tons photos in the hope to inspire something unique, boy would I have saved me a hell of a lot of stress, money and time. Things would have been much easier and cheaper! Yes I had the time of my life, but due to the parameters, by far nothing I would call holidays.

Yes I could finish post-production of this movie for a lot less. But I am attempting to make a product as shiny as what you see on TV, but for the 10th (or even less) of the price of those productions. And I think the movie will come with an unprecedented feel and authenticity. If I was in for the money, I had given up a couple of months into the trip. I am making this film for the smallest target audience out there, so there's neither fame nor money in it for me. I am literally living of my girlfriends cash at the moment. And I don't need to be paid hugely, because I already have been – in experience.

Thank you Fraserbyrne for contributing and helping me further share this experience for others to benefit from. I know you meant well, I just wanted to clarify… All the best and keep in touch.
Sincerely, Daniel

Strongly recommmended.

Daniel's presentation (and his dialogue with Norschweger) was IMO one of the finest moments during the 2012 HU Germany Summer Meeting.

I'm in as well. Wish you the best luck.

No worries @Rintzer. Just my opinion. I'm sure you'd have still done it without a camera though eh! ;)

Look forward to seeing the final product!

What kit did you take with you the way? Looked very slick for on the road motorcycle footage. I'm in the process of downgrading (weight wise) my kit bag for a trip.

My kit changed over time, but the core items were a HDSLR (Canon 5DmkII), lenses, a Sony cam, a Rode shotgun mic, a H2 audio recorder and a LED light panel.
