I have been re jigging the things I carry. Placing more emphasis on the things I wont be likely to find locally. I carry a new tube, fortunately on my Enfield I only need to have one size. I will also build up a kit of those parts unique to My bike, and any special tools needed to fit them. At a worst case scenario, any trucker, breakdown service or garage will have spanners. ( Except the RAC, once I had a fuel solenoid fail on a diesel car, and the first thing the bloke said was That is a xx mm and I dont have one of those, I know this because I wanted one last week and didn't have one then)!
My usual routine is to replace all cables, belts and plugs on a new vehicle, and after a thorough inspection keep the old ones as spares. That way you know they will fit.
