Rear Wheel Corrosion
 

Folks,

I have a problem with my rear wheel that i'd be grateful for your opinions on.

I'm in Linz in Austria, on my way to Kathmandu, but the front of the bike didn't feel good so i stopped to visit some friends and have it checked out. I've had the front wheel bearing replaced and a new front tyre which cured the original problem, but leaves me with this new one.

It doesn't look good to me and there are three spokes like this, but the odd thing is i had a new chain and sprockets fitted before i left and the mechanic didn't mention any problem with the rear wheel. This implies he didn't notice or the problem has gotten a lot worse thrashing along the autobahn.

The Austrian mechanic thinks it would be too dangerous to use the bike, but i may be able to nurse it home if i'm careful.
