popping

I just built a 2008 zx14 se, I found a beautiful 2008 engine with 84 miles on it
I took it for a ride and it was great except, it pops quietly at 2-3k rpms
I checked the plugs they are still shiny like new. I found a vacuum leak
fixing that made it allot better, but it continued, today I took the plastics off
and ran it, I noticed the black main throttle sensor on the side of the throttle body was making a bunch of extra noise and at about 2300 rpm the engine would sometimes pop. I disconnected it and all the popping stopped and I got a fault message.
Does anyone know if there could be an adjustment or any suggestions.
Thanks
Marc

You say you made it...

Does this mean you have a custom exhaust or modified airbox/filter etc ???

Popping is almost always a lean mixture.

As yours is probably fuel injection, you may need a power commander with a suitable map to compensate...

Either that or your lambda sensor isnt working.
