klr 650 2008 - conversion to tubeless tyre

need some advise on how to convert the present tube tyre to tubeless tyre using the existing rim? also please advise is it safe to make this conversion? anyone done it before? thanks

I am unconvinced that either system is better or worse for bikes than the other. I would not then convert from one system to the other unless forced. I do prefer the look of spoked wheels , that that is a small matter.
On my own BMW R80RT I have been forced into using a tube because the front wheel will not hold air reliably. The rear is fine. Twice since 1961 I have had a tubeless tyre aluminium wheel setup. Both times I had problems with them leaking air. I have never had a steel wheel/tubeless tyre fail. My last (and only) puncture on a spoked wheel was the winter of 1961. I have been carrying spare plugs since 1961 and have never needed one, but I continue to carry them. I dont know why you want to change? If it is to use a particular tyre, then just fit them and use tubes ( remember to chalk the tubes when you fit them:)

I doubt there is any way in which you can do this with the existing rims. Unless there is something new and very special about them.
Tubeless tyres and spoked rims generally can't work unless you're talking about BM's and Caponords.

Woodys wheel works.
WoodysWheelWorks.com

He lists doing a tubeless conversion for KTM.
(Thats almost the same as KLR. :helpsmilie:)

There was a big discussion about this here a few months ago, http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/hub...ess-rims-37278
