Tankbag for DL 650 V Strom

Hi all!

I'm looking into buying a good quality Tankbag for the wee strom. Any recommendations? The tanks o nthe wee stroms offer quite a limited space so I was wondering if you know of some good ones that would suit the bike.

It's for a RTW trip 2 up with my wife next year so has to be reliable, waterproof and big enough.

Thanks a lot in advance!

Stay safe!

Hey Andy,

As you know, many to choose from. In the grand debate of teardrop vs. rectangular, magnetic vs. strap, small vs. large I went with a medium sized teardrop magnetic bag for a DL1000, mainly because that's all I could find last minute:).

A lot of magnetic setups won't connect for all the magnets because of all the plastics around the tank, but as long as a couple attach that is usually adequate. A magnetic setup is also very useful as you can just grab your tank bag with the relevant valuables off your bike when you are going to be wandering around somewat closeby ie. at borders, stopping for drinks or food while travelling, etc.

Size can be a bit tricky but they are handy so it's easy to want to put a lot of stuff in them. Therefore I would get the biggest one that still fits on your tank. You may find that it slightly interfers with your handlebars at max turning radius, but these are very slow manouverings and it is usually pretty easy to put up with. If you are putting on bar risers that also bring the bars closer to you then I would have these on before seeing how well the tank bag fits.

As for one specific option, check out the Wolfman line, the Explorer Lite fits well.

There will be other recommendations that are readily available on your side of the pond but for a general sampling of some styles that will fit your bike check out one of the supplier sites like TwistedThrottle.com : ...by What Fits My Bike - Suzuki - DL650 V-Strom -. Cheers.

Hi Mountain Man,

Thanks for the info. I somehow think that I would prefer the magnetic bases as it is easier to take it with you whenever you gat off the bike to wander around or to get something to eat. Thanks for the website. I've checked it out and already have some thoughts on the subject :)

Thanks a lot!
Stay safe!

I have the Wolfman Explorer (not the lite) and it's like it was made for the V-Strom. Easy on/off and it will hold a ton. The craftsmanship is also second to none. Sorry I don't have a better pic of just the bag.

I second the Wolfman line! I simply love mine. I have the explorer, (non-lite). It is made for this bike. They make really nice waterproof ones as well. Can't go wrong with these.

I have a tankbag from bagster including their tank protector and am very happy with it. It comes with a rain protector to put on top and that one keeps the water out very wll. It is also expandable which gives you a lot of storage space.
I love the tankprotector which gives you additional protection for the paintwork while riding off-road. :thumbup1:

Once you've got the protector on you can attach different sized bags to it and I want to get a smaller one for day rides as well.

Cheers, Anna
