Suzuki DR650 seat removal: How?
Hi folks
I'm struggling to get at the spark plugs on my 1990 DR650 which seems to need a whole collection of stuff removed first: side panels, those weird plastic wing things, the seat, then the tank. I can't see any bolts that might be seat-related so I'd appreciate any suggestions. I have a Suzuki manual but I reckon it assumes far more know-how than I can claim. Cheers Andrew (in Sheffield, UK) |

hi andrew
the seat is held on by two bolts at the back of the bike, but if just want to remove the spark plugs get a plug spanner cut down then weld a nut to top and use a spanner westy |

Thanks for tip; One of the HT leads has parted from the plug cap so I think I have to remove the seat/tank to get to them. At the risk of sounding dim which two bolts at the rear hold the seat on?

Remove plastic side covers (one screw each)
Remove seat bolts (one each side) Seat bolt location can be seen here, directly below the white "U" on the seat. Ben Better photo here. I just google pictured: suzuki dr650 "seat bolts" removal to get the pics.

Hello Ben and thanks for replying; Damn, my bike doesn't have the luxury of seat bolts similar to the pic you found. Maybe it's because it's an Italian import? I might try prizing it off with a crow bar...
