Suzuki dr 600, how to improve it?

I just bought a suzuki dr 600 to do the silk road next summer. I am going to do a complet revision of the bike but do you have any advice to improve the brake and the fiability.

Braided steel brake lines will be the single biggest improvement you can make to the brakes. Fresh quality brake fluid and bleeding is good, as are quality, fairly soft pads. Soft pads bite better and are more gentle on the disc, but don't last as long. Still, it is easy to carry a spare set. Check the disc is true (not bent with high spots as these will push the pads away as the rotor turns). Make sure the brake master cylinder (on the handlebar) doesn't flex as this will absorb some of your hand power.

Thanks for those information. This is the blog of my Dr 600 (http://dr600.skyblog.com). Do you think that the Dr is relaiable because i heard that some cylinders had some problems

I would also say get rid of the old bike and go for the DR650SE (SP46A).
Reliable, strong, good suspensions and brakes. Add a long range tank and maybe another seat. Very few well known and well researched issues (starter gear torque limiter 1997/8 and cylinder base gasket up to 2003). Since 2004 fault free.

Hi, im in Africa, riding a 02/ DR650. I can not say a thing against it, done 49,900ks trouble free. With the scottoiler i did 33,000ks on the chain and rear spocket. I know its not a 600, but still a Suzuki. Good luck, have fun.:thumbup1:
