Rebuilding 1980 TS185ER

Hi guys,
My brother and I are rebuilding the bike we both got our licences on which is now the best farm bike weve ever had after a gearbox failure.
for good measure weve replaced all the bearings and are starting to re-assemble the bottom end, on the big end main bearing there is a seal one half is against the crank wheel and the other half is on the bearing the old one has a rubber in between which doesnt look to bad.
the replacement bearing didnt come with a rubber but came with a metal ring which we used to knock it in with. the rubber couldnt be found on the microfish diagram so we couldnt order one.
Did we do the right thing with the metal ring. should we just re use the original rubber.
any sugestions and even a part number would be appreciated.

thanks
Deano
