Petrol leak DR650
 

DR650 fuel leak
I have just fitted a safari tank to my DR650, and the bike runs fine. But fuel runs out the overflow pipe as soon as the taps are tuned on.
What has happen? and how do I stop this? Because petrol is expensive!

Where?
 

The overflow pipe from the tank or from the carb? I understand that the DR, like many Suzukis, has a vacuum operated automatic fuel valve. This works by using the manifold vacuum to pull a diaphragm inside the fuel tap assembly. There will be a hose that goes from the inlet manifold to the tap. Maybe the hoses are not on the correct fittings?

It leaks from the overflow from the carby. The vacum pipe has been kinked so it does not draw air into carb.

I guess you have dirt in the needle valve. Perhaps it was hiding in the new tank's petrol tap(s).

Thanks, I will pull of the carby and clean the needle valve.

An easy fix sometimes works
 

A couple of sharp taps with the handle end of a large screwdriver on the float bowl of the carb can sometimes work too. Nothing to loose!

If the screwdriver taps don't help lift the arse end of the bike and drop it back onto the ground.
If you can't lift up the arse end of your DR you should get yourself a gym contract as you won't find a lighter 650 :D
