Hello all, New to forum and this bike.
I have no spark. I purchased the bike knowing that it didn't run and at the time it needed a coil and lights, clutch switch, brake switch etc. My question is, do I need to have the clutch switch hooked up before it will allow the coil to throw a spark? The entire wiring harness has been replaced and everything is hooked up correctly according to the wiring diagram. I'm just trying to eliminate all possibilities before taking it to Suzuki or having to buy a new CDI or Rectifier. Any help or suggestions are appreciated. Dan

The missconceptions;
1) The bike runs without a clutch switch - the clutch switch simply alows the starter motor to turn the motor over .. ... if it stoped the motor - how would you change gear or stop at a set of stop lights ??? 2) The rectifier will not stop the bike from running ... it charges the battery only. ----------------------- Why won't the bike run? No spark. There are two 'coils' that go to the CDI box from the engine - check both for continuity. Not unknown for these to go open circuit .. One coil supply the energy for the spark plug - the other coil tells the CDI box when to fire the spark plug. If you buy from Suzi then they come with the battery charging coils .. someone has rewound the spark energy type coil themselves over on Adventure Rider Motorcycle Forum and it is still working. The third coil supplys the spark plug .. and should have continuity too ..
