Lowering Dr650 exhaust

I am seriously looking at making a DR650se a better all-rounder scoot. Highway, rambling fire roads etc but no serious off road. I recently saw pics online of a DR650 with a short supertrapp mounted down low so hard panniers could be tucked in nice and tight to the rear sides of the bike.( don't have pic just google image search and you will find it) Everything seemed to home made (racks were flat strap steel and the can was attached to that. The only point of possible problems seemed to be where the header pipe was routed back out to the side, it appears that the swingarm could possibly hit it if the rear suspension was compressed more than average. Has anyone tried rearranging the exhaust plumbing to locate it below a hardbag? Maybe there would be less of a problem if it were routed across to the left side before running to a mounting point.
