Introduction from a DR heavy user

Hi all,

My name is Patrick and I am a bikeoholic. Hi Patrick.
It all started after 2 years on a Kawa KMX125 (swiss 125ccm rule for 2 years). The Dakar was at its prime. Reading a magazine, I learned that the DR750 at the time was the least modified bike on the Dakar. Bought it a few weeks later after trying every single dual-purpose bike on the market. The DR750 engine and suspension and 29 litre tank were the main buying factors.
After 10 years on it mostly in Europe, Africa and Turkey, I sold it before migrating to Australia. Bought an XT500 (80 mod) very soon after and a DR600Dakar (89 mod) 2 years later.
Last week, I sold my DR600 to a good friend and bought a DR-Z400E brand new...
Having 2 young boys, I am off the long term travelling (at least on bikes) for a while. The DR-Z is much better for a half day of fun in the forest. But I still got the IMS 16 litre fuel tank. I was very seriously considering the 28 litre one from Aqualine (www.rvaqualine.com.au) but couldn't justify the cost. This tank like the IMS does not require any modifications (no pumps for the ones who were wondering). I also got the important (IMHO) accessories like hand guards, bash plate and radiator guards.

Thanks for this great website...

Patrick (XT500H, DR-Z400E in Melbourne Australia)
