Maybe I've missed it somewhere here, but I can't a list of these in HU? And for some reason I can't seem to find any in Guatemala city with a Google search either. I need to find one to help solve an overheating problem with my DL1000K2. Any help would be appreciated.

Does the fan work?
Is there coolant in the oil?

After that we're getting into thermostat and impeller...

Thanks LR for your response and inquiry. I've pretty much deduced that it's the auto thermo switch and just wanted to see if I can have them test/replace it (I can probably test it myself in some boiling water and using my multitester with instructions in the manual, but I need other Suzi parts also). Either way, I'm going to install a manual override switch as was kindly suggested on the V-Strom forum by 'Johnofchar'.

Just thought it was odd there wasn't a section in HU that listed international moto dealers or links or such so that people could find parts for their bikes while on the road. I have seen the section on moto repair shops, but they're mostly BMW.

Glad you found a dealer. That link should be posted somewhere on HU that is easily accessible for travellers. I would contact Grant and ask him to post it
as a Sticky somewhere.

What ended up being the problem with your DL overheating? Bad Thermastat?

I have a DL1000 with 53K. They run HOT in town. Unless its showing five bars all the time, you should be OK. If your using a front fender extender to keep mud off, well, this impedes some air flow. Runs cooler without it.

A few tips:
Use Water Wetter (if you can find it there) Will lower temps about 10%.
Run a slightly lower percentage of coolant in hot countries. Don't run 100% water because the water pump needs coolant for lubrication. But you can go from standard 50/50 mix to 75/25 Water (distilled) to Coolant.
This might help just a bit combined with Water Wetter.

Make sure radiator cap is fresh, rubber seal is good and holding pressure.
Rad should be clear of mud and debris. Thermostat needs to be opening all the way when hot. (I see you're on to this one)

If you are using tank panniers, make sure they are not impeding hot exhaust air flow from radiators. If the hot air path is obstructed the bike will not cool as effeciently. Some tank panniers can do this and trap hot air.

Fan switch is excellent idea!:thumbup1:

I agree Mollydog, I think this could be helpful for other Suzy owners (1 for the international website and another for good/bad dealer experiences). But I've tried to fill out the form that were're supposed to use for feedback (3 times), and it keeps failing. Maybe you know how to get to Grant?

Thanks for the advice. I've pretty much got it under control, but I still don't feel very safe with it yet. I've done just about everything possible except replace the rad (which I had tested & cleaned just before the trip) and I still get a little leak every few thousand miles.

Installed manual override switch, works great, and when you remember to turn it on the bike never gets hotter than 2 bars. New rad hose, cleaned (chipped & sanded) paint off hose connection at rad, new-wider clamp (tight). New rad cap.

Still have small leak when gets up to 4 bars, seems like allot of pressure in system. Even seemed like rad was leaking a small amount between fins. Added some rad sealant powder, no more leaks and I watch the heat carefully when I slow down. Hope that's the last of it, but bought marine hose clamp at last store just in case. Running about 70/30 coolant mix now.

The number for the Susuki dealer is 22420-2100. They have a dealer right next to Quizno's Subs, just come in from Antigua on the main road towards the airport, go under the center roundabout "treble" and its 3 or 4 stop lights on your right. There is a guy there who speaks English usually. Good Luck. In Guate' anyone can do the work and just shoot over to the dealer for the parts. I might recommend another shop or individual depending on your time and $ etc... Good luck.
