Has any one added cente stand for DR 650 ?

I'm in the process of buying 3 Dr 650 for a family trip to South America from
Canada and am thinking of adding centre stands to make it easier to work on
Flat's etc.
Has anyone done this and how hard is it to do and how practical.

Thank for any Info
Michael

Hi Michael

I looked for a centre stand for my DR650 when I bought it last year but could not find one. If you do find one please can you let me have the details as well.

Many thanks

I have seen a DR650 with a centre stand. It was bolted to the frame if I remember correctly and looked like some type of universal fitment. It seemed to work ok. I may have some pics of it at home. Unfortunately I have no idea where you can buy one.
If your trip brings you to Mex City send me a PM.

I found the SW-MOTECH centre stand wares a bit on the chain ...

I cut that bit out and put another section in to stop the tubing filling with water/mud etc.

It mounts via the footpeg mounts - thus make the foot pegs a bit wider.

Oh - the bash plate (Whipps) also needed to have some bits removed to allow the centre stand to go on.

Why? Just dump the bike onto its side. For spraying the chain I wedge a tire lever and use it as a foot underneath the right footpeg bracket.

Or be creative and use tomato boxes, bricks, rocks, logs, pannier boxes, a borrowed car jack, ...

5 Stars make (or made?) one and I fitted it to both our bikes. Not brilliant, but works. Also bolts onto the footpeg mounts. The level is adjustable, so chain is not a problem.

I have the SW-MOTECH centre stand. It works very well. With a loaded bike it does take a good "lift and pull back" to get the bike up.
