DR650 websites and general info?

Hi All!
This is my first post on this great site. I used to have a '93 DR650 kickstart bike and really liked it. I replaced it with larger streetbikes, but I really miss having a large dualsport "do-anything" kind of bike. My plans for the future are to take some longer trips with my son and maybe rack up some miles in TX doing my job. How is the long term durability of the engine? Is the electrical system beefy enough to power extras? I understand that the seat is a board and would need to be replaced/modified.

Are there any good sites that cater to this beast? I have been doing a lot of research on the other marques and this bike seems to be a good candidate for the short list with it's features, simplicity & price. I believe there were some ladies travelling RTW on a pair of these bikes?

thanks for any input/info.....Bill

Wellcome to the greatest site on the web;
unfortunately there ain't too many sites about this bike, here's a couple I know:
www.maximum-suzuki.com/DR_Series/dr_series.html
www.cognitivevent.com/dr650p2.html
www.dr-650.de (this one is in german and seems to be offline as I write)

vagabond,
Thanks for the links, I've been going through them and there is a wealth of info.
From what I'm reading, the DR650SE is a well kept secret that can do a great job with a few well chosen upgrades. I used to own a '72 BMW 75/5 and am very shocked at the level of issues being experienced with these very expensive bikes, nowadays. It seems that they have gotten very competent at what they do, but at a price....complexity and cost.
