Vstroom big tank

does anyone ever saw a DL1000 with a bigger tank than stock, the bike seems great but for Africa the tank maybe a bit small.

Hey Hendi,

Haven't come across a bigger tank, even over at the vstrom sites and as you probably know they have a pretty broad selection with almost every farkle under the sun. If you are headed down the east coast, I rode a DL1000 Cairo to Capetown and the bike range is more than enough for almost all sections. Even though I carried a plastic fuel container the whole time it was only really used in northern Sudan from Wadi Halfa to Dongola. The other area additional fuel was very necessary was northern Kenya, but we went the Lake Turkhana route which is very sparse for people and fuel, the standard route through Moyale and Isiolo will have actual fuel stations but not sure of the distance between them. A ten dollar, five liter fuel can would be my recommendation. Cheers

Dl1000 bigger gas tank

I remember seeing the post but as much as the fuel cell seems great it does take a lot of room on the bike and had more weight very high on the motorcycle, when leaving for a RTW ,room on the bike is essential so I was trying to see if they had built a bigger tank .I am surprised than no one build a bigger one, maybe the Stroom is not yet recognise for a RTW.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive.
