DR650 buying in U.S.?
I am thinking of buying a new DR650, adding big tank, corbin seat, soft luggage rack etc. Riding from Florida to California via whichever route takes my fancy and bringing it back to the U.K.
I would appreciate any advice ref avoiding import duty/V.A.T., registering the bike and insuring it in the U.S. etc. My Dad is a U.S. citizen and lives in Miami. |

I was having a quick look on the Customs website recently, and the Duty for a motorcycle (new or used) appears to be 8%. Add that to good ol' VAT @ 17.5% and it gives 25.5%? So,add a quarter to the (low) price of a US bike - may be worthwhile... As you have access to a US address it seems rude not to use it! Enjoy.
