DL650 upgrade the pegs?

Hi again all!

Apologies for overpopulating the thread list with my problems:)

Do you think changing the pegs from the standard ones is a good upgrade? You know the ones that are a little bigger so when you stand up they're a little more comfortable?

Thanks,
Andy

Bigger is better flat is better some people make do with ripping that rubber off. There on my list but a bit low, still need a rear shock, front new springs and gold valve emulators with a fork brace. LED lights front light cut off new top box chargers for cameras and mp3 player. And a few odds and ends.

I look at this then in the end go for a long ride and make do.

Funny how much I spend on that bike and in the end the best items for riding I have for it is a sheep skin and a madstad windshield mount.

I know exactly what you mean! I think I'll buy the sheepskin with gel padding for me and the missus, upgrade the foot pegs and get the luggage sorted - tankbag tank panniers, buy all the camping gear and finish off with the clothing. I'll upgrade the stock suspension I think rather than buying anything else yet. Seems like a waste to me.

I ended up with Pivot Pegz and love them. The pivot action really helps when shifting or braking while standing, especially if you were real dirt boots.

Confirm above. Have the pivot pegz installed as well and they make a big difference as noted, although I don't have 'real' dirt boots, but are great when standing up.

Ones that don't pivot, and there are many, that offer better grip and a bigger flat area, are def worth the upgrade. I found the stock pegs hard on the soul when standing, and when wet, a bit slippery.

One a side note, I have found the stock seat very comfortable (must be just me) but have found the sheepskin cover I obtained from Rider Wearhouse to be a great asset (no pun intended).

Cheers,

Ian

Thanks guys! I'll research the subject of the pegs. How "loose" is the pivot facility? Does the peg turn upside down when you're not standing on the pegs?

When it comes to the seat - the wee strom is not comfy at all in my opinion. One hour in that seat and my bum hurts like hell! Maybe I'm just sensitive that way :) Also the numb nuts factor isn't helping !

Thanks for the info!

Comfy Bum

This bit of info may be a bit late for you , if you have already bought your sheepskin. But for what its worth I invested in an inflatable pad by AIR HAWK. Cost around £90 but worth every penny. Partially inflated prevents floating when braking or accelerating.
Also easy to remove for security reasons. I fully inflate the pad to make a perfect pillow when camping. So can have other uses.
No more dead spots on your bum . Good luck with your trip

Hi, I made my own pegs for my wee strom, I wanted something wider and more grippy. I had some alloy box lying in the workshop and used that to make a large flat spikey platform and bolted that to the standard peg... so it cost nothing and if i want the rubber insert back in its just a 5 min job. and it cost nothing... which is always good!

Also I found with the seat that after about a week riding your bum gets used to it and stops aching. So that is a free fix too:thumbup1:
