djebel 250 ex kick starter?

Hi all
The clutch on debz Suzuki djebel 250 ex is slipping badly (to many wheelies I think) so it’s time to change the plates all very straight forward so it seems.
When I was looking at the engine casing I noticed that there is a hole for a kick starter, which is not fitted to this bike, it got me thinking that it would be a good idea to retro fit one if it were possible to do so.
I am a great believer that all bikes should have a kick start as back up as I l have lost count how many times that I have used them on the 640 adv. As I never ever seem to get a flat battery at home.

So does anyone know if it’s possible to do? and what parts do I need to find?

Cheers
Iain

I don't think it's that easy to retrofit a kickstarter to the aircolled Suzuki singles?

I had a DR600, you needed to remove the top end & split the crankcases to remove/replace the kickstart shaft unlike later bikes such as the DRZ400 where you only need to remove the complete clutch basket & primary drive to do so.

I could be wrong though, check with your Suzuki dealer. If so, you'll need to factor in the cost of a complete gasket set plus the labour if not doing the work yourself in addition to the cost of the kickstart kit itself (£130-£150 for a DRZ, the cost of a kickstart shaft alone for my DR600 was in excess of £80 15 years ago.......). If you do strip the engine down, ensure that you check the output countershaft for wear while you're in there. If that fails at a later date, you'll have to repeat all of the work to replace that - DAMHIK :(
